I can honestly say that I am gutted about the sentence that this lowlife has been given after taking Beret away from us all.
Lets hope there are some really big horrible, twisted, depraved inmates that also loved Beret in the prison that he is heading for.
May you have many sleepless nights Mr Brook.

Perhaps if the lunatic who killed Dave was made to have ridden a motorcycle for a few years before taking his car test, He would have been a better driver... more aware of other motorcyclists.
I think this should be compulsary.. & his sentence is simply a sick joke. Had Dave been a polititions son, or a member of the Royal Family, i don't think the courts would have been as linient.
A life sentence for a life, now that would be fair justice. 2 years from now. this moron will be out of the slammer dreaming of the day he can drive again, and all's hunky dory.
Poor Dave's family will have to live with this sorrow all for the rest of their lives.
He should have been banned from driving for life, The laws an ass.
It's about time Polititions make the motorcycle riding test compulsary before anyone should even consider taking a car test, for this we would have a much better nation of car drivers.
This sentence is in line with what we have come to expect, where concern for the rehabilitation of the perpetrator is a more valuable asset to the courts than the life that he has taken. Is the sentence being appealed by the CPO? When does dangerous driving become manslaughter? Why is this not manslaughter? Where is the will to prosecute serial criminals like this lout properly ? – read the judges remarks, for heaven’s sake, what were the guidelines open to the Beak and why did he\she not execise the maximum rigour?
So Andy, why not start a petiton on the Downing Street website about outrageous sentencing in general and Beret’s loss to this halfwit driver in particular? I’ll bet you’d get the support of the classic press.
My sympathy for this cruel blow adding insult to loss.
Terence
i never new or met dave but was saddened by the story ,unfortunately the sentence handed out to the piece of slime is all to common place in these instances .. a sad reflection of todays society.my heart felt sympathies to Daves family and freinds.

Sorry to hear about "Beret". I read the article on his B31 in Classic Bike
some time ago. Sounded like a great bloke. I can tell you that sentences
here in Oz make no more sense than the one given in this case.
As an enforcement officer (and long time classic motorcyclist (5TA)) it
concerns me too.
Many thanks
Paul
I logged into the site a while back to check out the latest stock, and was drawn into the tragic story of Dave Berry's death - someone I never knew but yet had a connection with - someone going to work on an old BSA, enjoying the charm, the thudding simple pleasure and joy of riding a venerable old British Single - I enjoyed every minute of riding my old '56 350 AJS, much as 'Beret' must have his Beeza.
I'm 51 years old and had been riding since the early 70's - one thing I had noticed however was the increasing incidence of astonishing and reckless driving out on the roads - more often than not ''performed'' by grinning, leering, baseball capped young male nutters in battered Ford XR3i Escorts....the danger, always a present notion for the motorcyclist began to intrude into the pleasure of my beloved pastime - I toy with the idea of another machine (a Velocette was a boyhood dream..) but when scum like Brook and armies more like him are allowed repeatedly to demonstrate the worst, most dangerous driving habits, then are allowed to continue until the inevitable becomes a reality - they kill....it makes me have second thoughts...
To insult the memory, the family, the friends of Mr Berry by giving Brook a mere 28 months gaol and a 4 year ban is unforgivable - a four year ban for goodness sake...for taking a life - Brook should NEVER be allowed on the road again.
Second only in sadness to that of Mr Berrrys death is the sad, grotesque predictability of this incompetant and lenient judgement - like so many other cases we read about in the newspapers every day - a signal to all others of Brook's ilk that in reality, in modern Britain, there are no real consequences for your actions..
God rest Beret's soul and my thoughts are with all those who knew and loved him.

zero tolerance is the only way these mindless idiots will ever learn ...another life cut short ..another inadequate jail term..don`t know who i`m more angry with , the driver or the judge...death by dangerous driving should carry a minimum 10 years..

Hi Andy & Jo, its been a long time since I have been on your site, I find it too sad.
As you know I was in court to see Kenny Brook (Killing Bastard) sentenced- what a joke! It seamed like just another day at work for the judge/barristers etc as they fumbled through the case.
If I remember correctly, the judge said something along the lines of "I am going to give you the most lenient sentence I can"- why?
With his driving record? He has had so many convictions in his three years on the road that his defence barrister could not remember them all and had to ask him in court what convictions he had!!!
His sentence; 28 months NO fine and NO costs, because of his finances. And a four year ban!! Now that's justice!! Let's think, out in 14 if he is a good boy, and the Government have just taken another month off, so that's 13 months. Out in time for his summer holidays next year then (July 4th 2008). I bet he does not spend that in sunny Felixstowe!! I almost forgot the extended driving test in four years time. KB is good at taking tests- after all, as we found out in court, he is such a good driver that he has taken three driving tests so far, so the fourth should be no problem!!!
I have been a miserable bastard since the day David died. I bet when KB is released he will come out with a smile on his face.
David Berry FUCKING LEGEND
