1955 AJS 18S 500cc
Priced at SOLD. First registered on the 4th of March 1955, this machine goes by the name of 'Old Aristotle' & has Comes to us from a very unusual owner, Chris Hullcoop, 'Windmill Chris' to his friends - so called because he has been riding to the resue of old windmills for the past 50 years, as a windmill restorer. Chris has owned this machine since the 1960's,using it continuously, & maintaining it in his own unique style (rumour has it that hs has used the same methods on the bike as on windmills). Our late fitted, 'Beret', rebuilt the engine some years ago, fitting a new big end. This motorcycle together with is owner was featured in our 2011 calendar (see last photograph below), as drawn by Nick Ward. Sadly Chris has very reluctantly decided to sell 'Old Aristotle' as he is now getting on in years & finds the bike hard to manage. Comes with the latest DVLA V5C registration document, is MOT exempt & is registered under the 'Historic Vhecle' class for free road tax. The bike also comes with a number of cyclinder head gaskets & its original valuable Suffolk registration mark RRT 874, which is transferable if you must.
